Ground rules

Last solo practise late this afternoon before the trip to Scotland and competition for the Harry Roscow Trophy. On rink one. Wish I'd not bothered. Awful results. Just can't get the length. Either far too long, almost in the ditch, or far too short.

Then realise it was a mistake to pick this rink. Both Over 60s teams have been playing from 2pm this afternoon in the opposite direction. Thirty-six bowlers were standing and shuffling around along the lines I'm bowling. No wonder I'm not getting the length. Like bowling on a sheet of glass. Valuable lesson when picking a rink. Always consider what went on earlier in the day.

Give up on the solo practise. Move to rink two to give myself a few last ends of reassurance. Back to the top form displayed on Sunday.
