Men's Fours B Team league match this evening, playing away at Huntingdon Bowls Club. So it's three rinks, each four a side, two bowls a player. Our opponents were demoted from Division 2 last year and sit third in the current league. We're third from bottom.
Looks positive from the start. Although one of our rinks is getting thrashed, we're well ahead on the other. On our rink we start with a five. Could we get a 5-2 result? Our worst rink loses 27-5, on the other it's a comfortable win. All down to our rink for a win.
We just lose. Their skip saved them on several ends with a perfectly weighted shot to push through our holding bowls and top spin to the jack. Made at least eleven shots difference in the score.
My solo practise yesterday paid dividends in the early ends. Playing third, had great line and length. But really frustrating towards the end. As the air cooled and shadows crept across the green, my perfect length shots needed an extra yard. Seemed incapable of making the adjustment. How frustrating to have a perfect line, only to be short!
