Bit of a buzz down the Bowls Club this morning as the trusty few members of the working party toiled in bright sunshine to get everything ready for Opening Day in a week's time. Bright sunshine is the key phrase, today the first time this year there was real warmth in the air. And it's going to continue all this week. Two weeks ago looked a lost cause, the green surrounded by flooded meadows as far as the eye could see. But our head green-keeper sees no reason why we shouldn't bowl next Saturday.
Certainly need a bit of a miracle regarding delivery of the new Club shirts. Ordered eight weeks before Opening Day. With a six week delivery time, that gave us a two week contingency. But delays at the Chinese factory meant dispatch was rescheduled for 10 April. On that day I was emailed the strike-offs to check and authorise. Dispatch is happening this weekend, scheduled to arrive at my house on Thursday or Friday. For Saturday Opening Day. All a bit last minute.com.
