Practise session with pairs partner and A Team lead bowler Geoff. A bit doubtful to begin with. The skies grey and overcast, rain forecast for 8pm arrives early. The biggest problem is the temperature. It's down to 7C and our fingers are cold. But we're lucky, and during a respite we manage to get sixteen ends in.
Get off to a cracking start and by end six I'm leading 8-1. Then Geoff gets his eye in and a string of five winning ends makes it 8-8. It's not that I'm playing badly. Just the opposite. Getting a perfect line with most deliveries, the length not bad either. Geoff is slightly more accurate.
Hardly a standard length jack played. We're practising very short and long ends throughout. Manage to get the edge again. Run out the winner, 14-11. Very enjoyable, with some cracking ends. Here's the scorecard.
