Arrive at the Club for the first social roll up of the year. Little enthusiasm for a game. Steady light rain all day and everyone is moping around in the clubhouse. What's the matter with them? Even the guy who organises the roll up is off home pretty soon.
Magically, the rain stops. Drum up enough players to occupy two rinks, one pairs the other triples. Great opportunity for me and partner Geoff to get in some practise before our County pairs first round fixtures in May. Up against two good draw bowlers. Should be a good match.
Certainly good for us. It's seven ends into the match before the opposition score, when we're 17-0 ahead. By then we're starting to lose a bit of edge. Finish after fourteen ends, 26-6 to us. Very encouraging. We'll play much better with a few more games under our belt.
Here's the scorecard.
