On top form

Big smile
First Club competition match this evening. Men's Handicap. My opponent is an A Team player. It's going to be a battle. We're both on the same 5 handicap, so first to 21.

Happy there has been heavy rain during the afternoon. A slow green and long ends suit me. No chance of that in the early ends. My opponent has the jack and uses a medium length. I'm getting bowls close to the jack, in some cases right against. But it's uncanny how he manages to knock me out. Tell him I'll burst into tears if he does it again. And he does. Cue mock tears.

As we approach the middle of the match the pressure is beginning to tell. My bowls are a good length and the line is improving. More frequently rolling the jack, my maximum length ends are beginning to tell. In the final half of the match he only wins four singles.

Very happy with the result. But I'll avoid rink one in future. Last year it was the best to play on, now it has a strange kink three-quarters down on my forehand when the bowl does a slight swerve against the bias. Apparently rinks three and four are the ones to choose.

Here's this evening's scorecard.
