Long and short of it

Bit of a gap until my next bowls session on Thursday. Already suffering withdrawal symptoms. A solo practise this evening is the solution. Choose rink 3, one of the two favoured. The green is medium heavy.

Start with a few maximum length jacks. Going well. Averaging two bowls within a yard. Switch to medium length jack. Oh dear, a disaster! Half of the total short bowls for the session delivered in two ends. Gradually improve.

Next try minimum length jack with the mat moved right up the green and the jack within two yards of the ditch. Wow! Out of twelve bowls rolled, ten are within a yard and half of those within two feet!

Finish off with two final ends at maximum length in torrential rain. The green really heavy now. Nevertheless, I get six out of eight within a yard, five within two feet. See image above of the last end.

Reasonable session overall. More than half my bowls within a yard. Might have been a record practise if I'd avoided delivering those short bowls. But really helpful information for future singles matches. Most players don't like long ends. Equally dislike their line and length upset by the mat being moved right up the green. If I can do a few of one, then switch to a few of the other, that really would upset my opponents. Just have to get better on standard length jacks!

Here are the updated chart and this evening's scorecard.
