Another club tie against the opponent I'd drawn in three of the eight club competitions. Would I make it three wins out of three? Certainly didn't start this afternoon's four woods club competition tie with positive thoughts. After the first eight ends I was 10-3 down and had won only one end, winner first to 21. Even after I won the next three ends, by the thirteenth was still losing by some margin at 13-7.
Been bowling a good line throughout. Problem was length, too long for once. Then got it sorted and started to play the kind of bowls I dream about. Great line allied to great length. Won eight of the final twelve ends, the difference being I won my ends by twos or threes, my opponent by ones. In those last ends I scored 15 to his 4.
A much better mental approach too. When losing, kept telling myself that being the first to 21, there was no time or end limit. I only had to increase my win rate and reduce my opponent's.
Won't be so easy in the next round. Play the winner from two A team members, one ranked amongst the top club players. But if I play as well as I did in the last ten ends this afternoon I may give someone a surprise... myself included!
Here's this afternoon's scorecard...
