Yet another club competition tie, this evening the Over 60s. Highest score after sixteen ends. Up against a good, long standing men's B team lead bowler.
With my typical slow start, wasn't long before I was in trouble and 6-1 down. Another 3 to him in the sixth end didn't help. Had a mild rally half way through but never got into my swing.
There was a key difference between us. Whenever I was lying three or four up, he'd always get one bowl in to reduce the score or turn it in his favour. Whenever he was lying in a similar position I all too often failed to do so. That all important maxim again... getting at least one bowl close on every end!
Still got plenty of chances to make finals day. Three quarter final and one semi final singles matches, plus one pairs quarter final match, yet to play. Increasingly against capable opposition!
