One down, seven to go

Eager anticipation for this evening's men's doubles club competition tie against good opponents. In fact, very good opponents... we got stuffed!

The two of us didn't play as well as we could, and luck didn't go with us. Playing skip, seemed to be firefighting whenever I came to bowl. Their lead had his eye in. Even when we were sitting one or two bowls to the good, my counterpart had the knack of making his last wood count. Drive shots didn't help, still leaving them sitting pretty even when bang on target. Just wasn't our night.

Didn't manage to get a snap of the scorecard. Just as well... we lost 24-4   ~:0(

Still, another seven club competitions to go. Got three ties to squeeze in before the end of the month. Had to rearrange the Friday match to next Tuesday, so my next tie is on Sunday. By coincidence, my opponent for that was playing on an adjoining rink. Losing 11-4, there was a sudden turn around and he took nine of the remaining ten ends to win 18-12. So Sunday is going to be interesting!

Next bowls match is for the men's B league team against Sawtry on Thursday. They're one above us in the league so will be a tight match. Here are the current league positions...
