Third club competition match this afternoon. Up against the same player I narrowly beat 2-1 in sets at the end of May in the Non Winner's competition. Today it was the Mixed Singles. Same format, best of three sets, each of seven ends.
Put what I learned over last weekend into practise. Just focused on getting my bowls close to the jack, regardless of what my opponent was doing. Gripped with my thumb on top of the bowl.
Took the first set comfortably. Walked the second set to win 2-0. Won ten of the fourteen ends, so happy with the performance.
Although I got bowls within three feet of the jack, didn't get many within one foot. Must remember to focus on an aiming point on the far end of the rink. I do that when playing evening games across the green, but seem to default to a point half way up the rink when playing afternoons up and down.
Here's the scorecard...
You speak here about three meters and one meter. Is this a typo. A bowl three meters from the jack would be out of bounds wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteOoops! Well spotted Clarke. Should have been three feet and one foot. I've corrected the text now. Thanks, John
