Down the bowls club on a beautiful sunny evening for my usual session cutting the grass surrounding the green. Only, we seem to have got a bit out of synch since my holiday a couple of weeks ago and it gets cut the day or so before. Ended up edging the grass in front of the club house before having a solo practise.
What caught my eye was the ladies triples match on rink one. Three of our best bowlers were up against a team from Peterborough in a County tie... up against it being the operative phrase. Their skip was an England international. Having seen her roll right up against the jack on the trial ends, thought I'd watch for a while. Unbelievable!
It was eery to see each of her bowls slowly make their way to the perfect spot time after time. When bowls surrounded the jack, she found a narrow channel to gain access. Was amazing to watch. How could she be so perfect, and on a strange green?
Thought about what I saw, and some of the things Bernie said yesterday evening about how he fine tunes his game. Beginning to think my current format of solo practise isn't doing me any good. Must have a rethink.
Here's this evening's result...
