Getting to the next level

For the third time this week a basic failure in technique has meant an exit from the Club championships. This evening it was a failure to keep my head down when delivering a bowl, the result a loss of line on crucial shots. Earlier in the week the same problem caused a loss of length. And there was a failure to establish clear primary aiming points.

I can give our best Club players a close game, sometimes even win. But I can't win consistently. Certainly can't progress at County level. The basic problem is a lack of consistency. Solve one problem and another crops up. So what's the solution?

Certainly need to stop thinking about it so much and just enjoy my bowls. The more I concentrate on one problem, the more likely it is another will pop up. So here is what I'm going to do.
  1. Get some solo practise in to groove my technique more so it doesn't need thinking about and all the bits happen naturally.
  2. Stop caring so much. I'm going to lose some, get over it.
  3. Stop writing about every match.
The latter point means I won't be writing an update for a while.
