Disappointment

Home Men's Fours league match this evening against Ramsey B. They're just behind us in the league. A win tonight would be good, considering we beat them 7-0 in points earlier in the season at Ramsey. Only concern is our side is somewhat depleted, five players in the original selection being unavailable.

Doesn't take long to prove a difficult evening. We're losing handsomely on the other two rinks, hardly scoring a bowl in the first few ends.

Skipping on rink one, I'm managing to keep level with our opponents. My team are bowling some terribly short bowls, making access to the jack difficult. We drop four on end eleven but manage to recover again. But dropping eight in two disastrous ends puts us 11-20 behind. Their skips saves the day when we're sitting with five, reducing to one with his last bowl. Our mini-recovery towards the end isn't sufficient. We lose the rink 16-22.

Even worse on rink three, a 10-25 defeat. Fortunately rink two saves some points. Going into the last end it's 19-19. We win by a single bowl.

So a disappointing 2-5 defeat in points. Looking increasingly as though we'll just miss promotion and end up in third or fourth league position. Here are the scorecards.
