Learning from golf

Three big matches this week. Couple of Club competition games tomorrow and Friday and an important Men's Fours league match on Thursday. Time for a solo practise.

Got judging the line down to a fine art now. Just length needing a bit more polishing. So I'm playing a medium length jack for odd ends, full length jack on even. Playing on five. The favourite rink for a couple of the Club's top players, who I'll be playing against in the coming weeks.

One of my better sessions. More than half my bowls within three feet, a third within two feet. Encouragingly, one of the lowest short bowls scores in the last two years. So more bowls behind the jack for safety.

In the last few ends realise what works really well is continuing to count 'one and twooo' or 'one, two and threee' to time the delivery, using a consistent amount of follow through force whilst limiting the backswing according to the length required. A bit like a golfer who always uses the same force, but selects the club according to distance. In my case backswing length is the golf club. Here's the updated graph of results.
