Perverse win

Home Men's Fours match this evening against Sawtry C. We're a few places above them in Division 4. Hoping for a good result.

I'm skipping on rink 3. We lose the first three ends to go 0-7 down. Something is clearly wrong with our lead, bowling very short. He doesn't look at all well and goes off sick. We play six bowls against eight, their lead bowling unopposed.

You'd think that would be the finish of us. Somewhat perversely we start to score. Another three ends and we're leading 8-7. Spotted two of their team struggle on long ends. Maybe we could take advantage if we had someone who could deliver the jack to my feet. Our original lead couldn't manage it. Our number two puts three consecutive jacks off the rink.

Our lead comes back for another couple of ends before retiring for the evening. The lack of two bowls seems to make no difference and we cruise comfortably to a 26-14 win. Rink 2 also manages a comfortable win, 38-13. Unfortunately rink 1 loses 16-27. A win on points to us 5-2.

Really enjoying league bowls. Maybe something to do with five wins out of five matches, four as skip. And the C Team is unbeaten. Here are the scorecards for the evening.
