Causing a stink

Like most bowls clubs, we rely on time given generously by a trusty group of volunteers. Particularly our grounds team, who lovingly tend the hallowed turf twice a week throughout the year. Others plant and water flowers, paint anything that's not moving, cook, clean, act in official roles and organise events.

I do whatever I can to help. I'm on the committee, do the web site and Facebook page, promote the Club to attract new members, manage the ordering of new Club shirts, organise the Members' Guide and other documentation and captain the B and C teams and one of the indoor teams. Any more time down the Club and it wouldn't be worth coming home ~;o)

Somehow I've also become the resident septic tank expert. Wasn't much competition for the job. A reminder from the drain company prompts me to get up close and personal with the tank contents to see if it needs the biennial empty. It certainly does.

So that's a Wednesday afternoon booked just before Opening Day to again spend an hour or so with the garrulous operative of the tanker, whilst he pumps out the contents of the tank. He certainly loves his job. And of course, we always part with a handshake.
