First point!

Away last week on holiday, turn up for this evening's match to news we drew last week against Royal Oak. Could have been even better. Were 17-10 in the lead but got all sympathetic, dropping seven in the last two ends.

No sympathy on show this evening. Up against Warboys White Hart, the top county club and home of ex-World Champion and current World no. 6, Nick Brett. He's not playing this evening, just spectating for the first few ends. Fortunately we put on a creditable show up to end four, just dropping ones and a two and even winning one end. But we're under constant pressure. A couple of their players are so accurate, it's only a matter of time before we lose big time. Three ends and we go from 1-4 down to 1-14. They almost get a maximum score on end fourteen.

With one of their players facing a long trip, the score 3-28 and half an hour to go, they offer us the rink for practice. Very useful. No longer having any trouble finding the line. Even have a hope of getting the length right on occasion. Just too many ends where I first bowl short and then overcompensate. There are signs of gradual improvement. Whether I'll be any good before the end of the indoor season next April is anyone's guess. Here's this evening's scorecard.
