A glimpse of bowling nirvana

Men's Four Bowls quarter-final this evening. My opponent a good B Team player. Winner is first to twenty-one.

His jack, but I'm off to a cracking start. After three ends, 5-0 up. Then completely lose focus. The delivery is anything but smooth. Arm swinging across, first bowl always very short. Lose six of the next seven ends to go 6-9 down. Concentration back, the next four are mine and it's 11-9. With the next two going to my opponent, it's a real ding dong battle,

Then click with the perfect delivery. Every end three or all four of my bowls within a foot or two of the jack. Never bowled with such drawing accuracy. Another five ends and it's all over, 21-13 to me.

What was this bowling nirvana? Short step forward, hardly any backswing. Down low with full through swing as though reluctant to let go of the bowl. Arm directed at a secondary aiming point, head kept down.

Now just need to focus on repeating that for the semi-final. Be against one of the top players. Continue in that form and I've nothing to be afraid of. There's a good chance of reaching the final of the most prestigious competition at the Club.

Here's the scorecard.
