You guessed it...

County Senior 2 Bowls Singles match this evening. First to twenty-one. Back at Hemingford Bowls Club. Maybe I've got a head start, having played here last Friday. Maybe not. The rinks are running the other direction.

Off to my usual slow start, losing 1-9 after eight ends. Getting a perfect line. It's length that's a bit erratic. As that improves, win four of the next five ends. It's 5-10 and he's getting more of a game now. But he then gets four out of five ends and it's 5-15.

Another four consecutive ends to me and 10-15. Can see a real chance to get him worried if I can just win the next with two. Not to be. Three winning ends for my opponent and it's 10-20. Manage to eke out another three ends but the end is inevitable. Lose 13-21.

As we come off the green my opponent reveals that he's won this County competition four out of the last six years. Not only that, he was National Senior 2 Bowls Singles runner up last year. Yet another top class opponent.

Nevertheless, should have done better. Not a big gap in ends won, 12-15. But I only got one maximum score of two. Currently let down by lack of consistency.

That's all my County singles competitions finished. Not a single win. Still Senior Pairs, plus 2 Bowl and 3 Bowl Rink team competitions. And the draws for the Club competitions will be published this week. Another seven competitions, plus the Club Triples at the end of July. And most important of all, the upcoming battle against my brothers. Reasons to feel positive.

Here's this evening's scorecard.
