Playing away at Brampton Bowls Club this evening in the County Three Bowls Rink. The EBF version of triples. So three per team, each with three bowls, over eighteen ends.
Disastrous start when we lose the first end by five. Another four on the sixth doesn't help. Halfway and we're losing 4-13. Several times we're holding three, four, even five, and their skip manages to reduce that down to one, or convert to one for them. Surely our luck will change.
What does change is our lead. Been me so far, and not playing badly. Our skip decides to switch me to two. Initially our revised lead is no better, but it does help me. Length seems to improve when I've got a few bowls to aim for. Gradually we catch up, our new lead starting to play a blinder. We win six of the next eight ends to arrive at the last end fifteen all.
It's a tight measure for the shot bowl. Unfortunately, goes against us. It was a match we should have won, in spite of the effectiveness of their skip. Going down 0-5 after the first end made the difference. Here's the scorecard.
