Getting worried

Worried cartoon face Another desperately poor performance at this evening's Men's 4s league match against Papworth B. Playing lead, it was as though the jack and my bowls were electrically charge, but with opposite poles. Just couldn't get anywhere near. No surprise we struggled on our rink at the start. By half way we were losing 2-10. Somehow rallied in the second half. With two ends to go it looked like we might even win. No thanks to me. Was all down to a superb game by our skip.

For a time it looked like we might win on the other two rinks. Sadly not. Both registered a loss. Overall 0-7 defeat. At least we gave the division leaders a good run for their money. That's my last league match as captain. Away in Scotland for our last game next week.

Was rather nice that one of the experienced players grabbed me before the game and said how shocked he was last week when I said I was giving up the captaincy to try and get a place in the A Team. He wasn't the only player who thought I'd done a good job and that I should stay captain to try for promotion into division 2 next year. Maybe he's right. On the basis of my form in the last two days, I'm certainly no A Team player at present.

All a bit worrying for my Men's 4 Bowls quarter-final tomorrow evening, and three semi-final matches Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Here are this evening's scorecards.
