Every cloud has a silver lining

Every cloud has a silver lining
Two Bowls Club Competition Quarter Final this morning. My opponent thrashed me a couple of weeks ago. Hoping for a better result today.  Anticipating his push delivery will make it difficult for him to reach a maximum length jack on the heavy green. If he does get the length, might be he's had to use such force his line will suffer.

My strategy seems to be working perfectly. By the tenth he still hasn't scored a shot, 10-0 to me. He scores a single, but it's then back to further wins for me. By the fifteenth I'm 18-1 ahead.

After another single to him on the sixteenth end we retire to the clubhouse in heavy rain. The match restarts after ten minutes. Still raining and the green so heavy you have to throw the bowl. He begins to score... and score... and score. Is this a comeback? Certainly looks like it. Takes me eight ends to win another shot to make it 19-11. The match is over shortly after, 21-12 to me.

Neither of us played well. This competition requires any winning bowls to be within two metres of the jack. On end eight neither of us managed that. Embarrassing! But sometimes all it takes to win is to play less badly than your opponent. That's a second semi-final, hurrah! Here's the scorecard, rather damp in parts.
