Men's Fours League match at home this evening, against Somersham B. We beat them 7-0 at their green, so the result this evening should be another 7-0 win and the chance to go third in the league table... shouldn't it?
On our rink it's a close start, but from the fifth end they string together four winning ends to go 9-4 up. We trail them by some margin right to the fourteenth end, when we get four and two ends later five. As we go into the last end it's tied. They pick up two to win 19-17.
Looks equally dismal on rink four, where we finish losing 13-20. Our only slight salvation is our winning rink five, 17-11 to us. Overall result a loss 2-5 in points. At least that gives us 38 points so far. Not bad when I set a target of 40 for the whole season and there's still seven matches to go.
My performance as skip? Desperate! Only bowled three decent woods, and they were after a long start of failures. Don't think I'll select myself as skip again. Really hard to judge length when you can't see the jack most of the time. Form a bit ominous when I'm playing a Club competition quarter-final tomorrow evening. Against an opponent I've beaten twice this year but is on the up. Will it be the sequel, chicken counting 2?
Here are the scorecards.
