Another stroke of good luck!

Staring on Monday morning into a desert of no bowls for almost a week, there's another stroke of luck. Mobile 'phone rings. The Over 60s triples team are a man short... can I play this afternoon? Check with my domestic secretary... the answer is 'Yes'! That's another stroke of good luck, filling what was almost a week's abstinence.

We're playing St Neots Bowls Club. I'm playing skip, my opposite number is a Country Ladies player. How does she bowl so accurately? Very impressive. But I'm holding my own. On one end play a yard-on to convert two to them to four to us. Unfortunately it's hero to zero a couple of ends later when I play too heavy... two to us becomes four to them!

Very tight game. But I'm getting bowls into the count and saving us when necessary. In the final few ends we build up a lead and win 19-14. Overall St Ives wins 5-2 on points. Very enjoyable afternoon.
