Important Men's 4s league match this evening at home. Buckden B are one point above us, so a great chance to move up the division.
I'm playing skip for the first time this season on rink 2. Wish our great start was down to me. Unfortunately not. I'm giving plenty of direction and the players are responding. But when it comes to my turn I'm off the line. So many bowls in the way!
Gradually improve by ignoring everything and drawing to the jack. Go from zero to hero when I play a drive with my last bowl to go from three down to three up. But not particularly happy as skip. As my bowls become more accurate, concentration wanders. Guidance gets a bit floppy.
Our problem rink turns things around with a 3 and 5 within three ends. Finish the match winning 7-0 in points. That should lift us a couple of positions up the league table. Now ahead of the year end target of 40 points. We've got 25 with two games to go to the halfway point.
Our ladies do us proud with a dinner of two huge sausages, buttered potatoes and roast vegetables. Delicious! Make the mistake of wandering off to sort out the football card. When I return, the bangers are no more. Someone has cleared the plates away!
Here are the scorecards from this evening.
