Working things out

First solo session of the year this evening. Chance to sort out a few things.

Focus on getting the line. By the end of the session very happy with result. Keep my head down and arm out in the seconds after delivering the bowl. Helps ensure a smooth delivery and more accuracy.

Try a mix of aiming point at end of rink or using that to fix a secondary aiming point much nearer on the green. The latter still works better for me, although more accurate if the end of rink is used every time to reset the secondary point.

Playing a mix of jacks, the biggest problem is getting an accurate length. Occasionally all over the place, but typically can get two bowls within a yard. Not enough, really. And far too few within a foot of the jack. Getting better towards the end, when I start to adjust the length of my backswing depending on the jack. Not going back to my very long swing. Just a medium swing for long jacks, more of a push for short jacks. At least in the second session I almost hit the target of half my bowls within a yard.

Getting a bit nervous about a County match in a few weeks, when I'll be partnering two of the top County players in a two bowls County triples match. Be really exposed if they ask me to lead and I'm off form!

Here are the scorecards from this evening, and the graph showing results against target.
