Was it the team talk?

Men's Fours match this evening against the league leaders. We're in second place, Eynesbury C six points ahead of us. Feel compelled to focus the team with a pep talk...

Not quite up to Tim Collin's eve of battle speech, but the team did exit the changing room fired up for a result. Unfortunately, at the half way point all looked a bit desperate. Rink 1 losing 4-16. Rink 2 losing 3-14. And on our rink losing 5-9. Gulp!

Suddenly things changed. My skip suggested I play short ends. Magic! They really struggled and we won seven of the last nine ends to cruise home 26-13. Rink two won five of the last nine to narrow the gap to a 13-20 loss. Rink one had also staged a recovery, though still down 16-20 as they played the last end. Holding four, their skip failed to change things. A draw 20-20!

So the big win on our rink ensured we took the bonus point for highest total bowls. A 4-3 points win to us. A good result given our start. Here are the scorecards.
