A quick can of coke and a Kit Kat and I'm ready to go in the second semi final. Over 60's played to sixteen ends. Again I have a poor start, 0-6 down after five ends. My opponent is the club's best bowler, so I'm happy keeping him to mostly single bowl wins while I adjust to a different rink.
About half way through, realise I'm pulling my arm across on delivery. The green is playing heavy and trying to put in extra effort, I'm doing exactly the opposite. As soon as I follow through to the aiming point things improve and I start competing.
I'm playing long ends when I have the jack. The strategy pays dividends on the fourteenth end when I pick up four, all my opponent's bowls short. It's 9-11 and two ends to play.
My opponent picks up a single on the next end, leaving me needing three on the last. Doesn't look good as my opponent's last bowl rolls in to put him with two. I've got two close, almost forming a wedge pointing between his two shot bowls. If I can drive on to the end of mine I should scatter his shot bowls and might be left with three! I play the shot to perfection and.... am left two up! Drat!
At least it's my best result against him. Each time we play, I get a little closer to winning. So who know's what will happen in tomorrow's third semi final. Yes, it's against the same player! Let's hope there's no part 3 to the Broken Dream sequence.
Here's the scorecard.
