Finish on a high

Last Men's Fours league match this evening, away to local rivals Houghton & Wyton B. They're third in the league and beat us at home 2-1. Got a bit of a challenge on our hands.

I'm captain and go off searching for my opposite number. Guess what... it's the one bad apple I mentioned when we last played. No quieter this time either. Fortunately he's on an adjacent rink.

On our rink the four of us are playing well and lead 11-2 after seven ends. Although they close the gap, we're always ahead and win 16-13.

It's close on the other two rinks. Final result on those is one draw, one win to us. Great result for our final game, 6-1 to us in points.

Certainly don't manage the full twenty-one ends. Not even eighteen. We pack up after sixteen ends as the night crowds in and retire to the clubhouse for a very nice tea of pizza, jacket potato with cheese, salad and cakes.

When our B team next plays in eight months time I'll be captain for the season. Already thinking about how to get us promoted.
