Wishing for rain

Drawn pairs semi final this evening. Best score after eighteen ends. Unfortunately bombed, 22-4.

Knew we were up against serious opposition. All depended if their skip played as well as he can. And he played a blinder. Saved their bacon when we were lying three or four up. Often added to their score when they were already holding shot bowl. All stuff on a skip's job description, but he did it so consistently.

Although I could have played better, gave as good as I got against my opposition lead. Think the turning point came as early as the second end when, lying two up, our skip bowled his last wood into the head to give them one. Should have taken the two. Never recovered.

With my two last matches called off through rain, the forecast for this evening was just as bleak. And huge black clouds did skirt around St Ives, accompanied by some spectacular lightning bolts. We never had a drop of rain while we were playing. Pity. Might have got a better result on another day.

That leaves me in three club singles competitions. Two quarter finals and one semi final to play. Still got a chance of making finals day. Am I sounding just a bit desperate?

Here's the scorecard...
