Nipped down to the bowls club this evening to cut the grass surrounds. Managed to squeeze in a solo practise as well.
All going swimmingly well until about two thirds the way through. Back came the annoying habit of bowling short. Almost half of the fifteen short bowls I rolled came in ends eleven to thirteen.
Started to slow down my backswing, giving it greater thought. Sure what I'm doing is snatching at my swing, meaning even when I want to bowl longer, I get the same short result.
You can see the outcome on the scorecard below. An improving result from end fourteen onwards, with some of my closest bowls to the jack in the last three ends.
Now comfortable with grip, stance, judging the line and follow through. If slowing the backswing down sorts my problem of bowling short, I'll be a very happy bowler. Now aiming to average three out of every four bowls within three feet of the jack.
