St Ives B v Huntingdon B

Home match against the team who are third in the division. We were once third, but have dropped like a stone over the last couple of months to the bottom half of the table. So expectations of a challenging match this evening under a grey sky and cool conditions.

Nip and tuck on our rink, me giving as good as I got in lead position against the opposition. The skip then asked me to throw a longish jack. Ended up zipping it past him to the maximum length possible. Turned the game in our favour though. We ended six up on the end and they never caught us after that. Won 20-13.

Our other two rinks were getting thrashed, but somehow rink one turned the tables at the last minute. Clawing the game back in the second half, our team gained a draw with four up the last end! So with 2 points for a win, one for a draw and a bonus point for the team with the highest winning ends, they scraped the match 4-3.

Retired to the clubhouse after the match for a tea of steak pie, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots and string beans. And guess who won the football card and £10!

Here's the league tables before this evening's match. Might now have moved up one position.
