In our previous game against Brampton we narrowly beat them, both our winning rinks grabbing victory by one bowl. So always going to be a tough match tonight. And so it proved.
Our group of four whizzed well into the lead, helped by a score of six on one end. But our opponents edged their way back into the game and finished up winning. In fact we won only one rink, but did that by such a margin the bonus point went to us for the highest total score.
I started off on a high playing lead, getting at least one bowl close and giving my opposite number a hard time. But as the game went on most of my first bowls were landing short. Then tended to overcompensate by bowling too long. Still, think it was my best performance yet as lead bowl.
That result will probably still leave us top of the bottom half of the league table. Here are the current positions before this evening's game...
