Time to set a new target?

Down the bowls club this evening on what is becoming a Friday evening routine and an escape from the double bill of Coronation Street on TV. Cut the grass surrounding the green from 7.00pm to 8.00pm. With the lighter nights I can now squeeze in a solo practise before heading home at 9.00pm in the oncoming darkness.

Had one of my best practises. Got 40 out of 72 bowls within one metre of the jack. For the first time I've achieved the target I set myself in January, to get more than half my bowls close to the jack. I also got two or more bowls close to the jack on 15 out of 18 ends.

Already thinking of setting a new solo scoring system to give me a bigger challenge. Maybe just have three measures. A more difficult one of bowls within one foot of the jack. Keep the existing two of bowls within three feet of the jack and the number of ends with more than two bowls within three feet. Drop the short bowls measure; it follows the more I get close, the less are short. And drop the measure of which end length is best. My weight judgement is now getting to a level where end length doesn't make much difference.

An added bonus of the visit was the team sheet for next Thursday's league match away against Brampton B. I'm back in the team! Is that tick beside my name maybe a bit too enthusiastically emboldened?
