Back from holiday, tripped down to the bowls club this evening for the weekly mowing session. Examined the notice board for next week's team selection away against Ramsey. Rats... I'm in the reserves again! Since we operate a rotation system and the last time I played was 15 May, thought I'd be in the team. Can only think it must be names out of a hat each week.
Bit disappointing. I'm away on holiday in Scotland for the match following Ramsey. So the next opportunity for me to play for the men's team will be on 12 June.
On the positive side, for the first time I'm available to play for the over 60s team playing in division 1 away against Eynesbury. School holidays this coming week and no Wednesday afternoon visit from my grandson. Even better, I'm down as skipper... gulp!
After grass cutting, managed to squeeze in a positive solo practise. Bowled within one foot of the jack on almost half the ends and on more than half there were two or more bowls within three feet. Getting more and more used to my bowls and finding it much more easy to get the right line. Also adjusting the length more successfully.
Felt positive about the new scoring system as well. Giving me a new challenge. Here's this evening's scorecard...
