Just been sent the result of my brothers' annual warm up match at Scone Bowls Club. Andrew won 21-9, so guess who sent it to me in advance of their visit this coming weekend.
Immediately set up a chain reaction of thoughts...
* Certainly an impressive win by Andrew.
* Was Robert playing as well as he could?
* Half the ends won by Andrew were by one bowl.
* Could easily have gone the other way.
* The margin between them isn't therefore quite as big.
* Has Andrew shot his bolt and peaked too early?
* Certainly it would be daft to underestimate Robert.
It's all part jockeying for psychological advantage that will reach a peak when they arrive Friday evening. Bound to be much comment about the condition of our green. My bowls shoes will probably attract some opinion. Just need to keep focused.
