Get a grip

Managed to squeeze in a few practise ends this afternoon after marking Geoff's handicapped singles quarter final (which he unfortunately lost). Results a bit erratic until the last end, when I realised my fingers were not evenly distributed across the bowl when holding it just before delivery, as they should be in this image.

Think this might explain some of my inconsistency. If I'm not delivering the bowl straight, it's less likely to be on line. It may also explain why I sometimes struggle to find the right length and often bowl short, in that there must be some loss of power with an uneven grip.

I know, I know... a single successful end is hardly enough to be confident about the whole thing. But it did feel much better. Hopefully I'll get down to the roll up tomorrow afternoon for a longer practise before my remaining quarter final match in the evening.

No sign of a call up for this week's club league matches. Chances of making a club team appearance looking increasingly dismal, having missed the call through my own incompetence several times and with only a few more matches to go before the end of the season ~:o(
