Non Winner's Single - Preliminary Round

I'm going to have to wash the orange socks sometime soon! Although I'm not suspicious, there's no point tempting fate and the Orange Socks of Success were donned before this afternoon's match. This time best of three sets each of seven ends, the competition being for players who've never won any competition.

Heady with the success of the two previous matches, flew into the lead in the first set and won easily. My opponent, a member of the women's club league team, only managed to get two woods in at one end.

The second set was going well too, until I went down three woods in one end. Drat! Managed to claw my way back so I needed to get my last wood on the last end in beside my leading wood to draw. Just missed, and lost by one.

Could have kicked myself when I let my opponent go three up from the very first end... but replied with four in the next end. Hurrah! Finally won the last end reasonably comfortably.

Lesson learned : Having achieved the objective from the last match not to give away four in one end, don't give away three either!
