After some tuition from Jeff and my brother Andrew, at least I didn't humiliate myself in this tie, the winner being the first to 21. Lost 16-21.
For a large part of the match I was holding my own and keeping pace with my opponent. Even when he jumped ahead to 8-14, I managed to pull it back to 16-16.
In fact, I would have won had I not tried a couple of times to get my last bowl up to the jack to increase the lead I already had. Both times I knocked out my leading bowl and gave the end to my opponent. How stupid was that... otherwise I would have been in the lead 18-14 at the 21st end!
Lesson learned : If you're one bowl up, be satisfied with that.
