Mediocre

Poor result in my Men's Two Bowls club competition quarter final. Although playing a top A Team player, should have done better than a 11-21 loss. Close for the first twelve ends, we both struggled with length on a green so fast it was more like playing indoors.

Difference was I didn't take my opportunities. When my opponent's bowls were wide of the jack, I'd occasionally be even more wayward. When I was too wide, he'd certainly get one bowl in close. Realise now, should have employed my short jack strategy of just pushing the bowl rather than a full backswing. In the heat of battle, just didn't think. Stupid!

That's two out of six club competitions I've now exited. Still got four to go. Keep positive! Here's the scorecard. The last end, two to my opponent, is missed off.

  1. I also use a push with no back swing for a very dependable short game here in Canada. I don't see others doing it so it may be a durable strategy.

    1. There's a bowler at our club who is notable in his ;lack of a full backswing. He can be very accurate. Regards, John
