Look what's arrived!

Later in the morning, and a knock from a delivery man. Only ordered the new bowls late last week and here they are! Am in bowling heaven.

Slightly heavier than my old bowls. But easier to handle because they're slimmer, as indicated in the snap below. Been sneakily having a trail roll while the domestic executive aren't around. Can't wait to give them a proper heave on Saturday's Opening Day!

  1. Could you say something about your thinking for the selection of your bowls. Many bowlers are in your position of now getting new bowls and the breadth of the choice is off-putting.

    1. I know what you mean, Clarke. The Internet isn't always full of benefits when you have such a scale of choices and uncertainty on what's the best. My criteria were as follows:
      1. Wanted to select Scottish because of my heritage, and the fact Scotland established the modern game of bowls.
      2. That made Thomas Taylor bowls the obvious choice.
      3. I then wanted to have a new set as close to my current 20yr old Henselite Championship bowls, 5H with a wide bias.
      4. Also wanted to have a more comfortable bowl to handle.
      5. So the selection finished at the Legacy SL. Slightly heavier than my current bowls, narrower so easier to handle, with a wide and steady swing.

Hope you're enjoying your bowls back in Canada, and it's warmed up somewhat for you. The weather doesn't look too great for our Opening Day tomorrow. Whatever the weather, after 7 months without bowls I'll be a happy man!

      Regards, John
