Idiot!

Playing skip, we're five down as I bowl my last on end fifteen. Four of their bowls tight together in a facing arch just a couple of feet to the right, they're level with the jack. An easy target. Just need to ensure I'm not short. And what do I do? Bowl two yards short! How could I do that? Must get into the habit of having a few seconds thinking time before delivering every bowl.

Fortunately we were 16-9 ahead on rink two beforehand in our home match against Huntingdon B. Got off to a cracking start, the opposing four not knowing what hit them as we cruised 13-1 ahead in eight ends. But now it's 16-14 and their heads are up. Fortunately the next two ends are ours, 19-14. The two ends to them, 19-18. We win the last two for a final score of 21-18.

On rink one things are decidedly sticky as we drop seven on end three to go 1-11 down. Gradually we pull things back, 22-16 with two ends to go. Deciding to give the crowd (what crowd?) more for their money, we let the opposition have the last two ends to squeak through 22-21.

Rink three teases the opposition, losing ends five to nine after going ahead 8-1. Things back on track, they romp home with a 24-16 win.

That's all seven points to us. Important win. Probably lifts our B Team to third from bottom in Division 3, clear of the relegation zone. And the B Team is playing Huntingdon B at home on Monday, a rearranged match from June which I can't play in since otherwise engaged. Come on St Ives! Here are this evening's scorecards.
