Five days since last swung a bowl. Suffering withdrawals symptoms. This evening a League Triples quarter-final. Four rinks, eighteen ends, highest total bowls wins.
Playing for the B Team at home against Hemingford B, one division above. A tough match. It's tipping down. Thankfully stops raining as we walk onto the green.
I'm skipping rink 3. Their lead is very good. The number two is even better. With my colleagues a bit off line and length, we're often three, four or more down as I accompany the opposition skip up the other end to have our go. But it's one of those magical evenings when I've got a sixth sense for line and length and we keep in touch. When we have a run of three single end wins the opposition has a confab to decide how to stop me carrying the jack (so their skip tells me). Whatever they decide, it doesn't work. Next end three to us.
On rink 1 it's halfway into the match before Hemingford score. Looks like we'll win from their bowls total alone. As the rain comes washing down the match finishes early. We're ahead on all rinks and Hemingford can't catch us. Final score St Ives 70, Hemingford 48. Excellent result. Semi-final to come! Here are the scorecards.
