One bad apple...

Amazing how the discourteous behaviour of one player can spoil an evening's bowls. Playing Houghton & Wyton B in the Men's Fours league. Right from the start the opposition's lead player spewed out a load of inane banter. Maybe he'll calm down as the game starts, thought I. Not at all. Kept it up throughout the game.

Wasn't enough that it was all drivel. Let everyone know he did a bit if coaching. Seems not on the role of each player in a team of four. Besides the lead's duties, he also did the number three's job of directing the skip and agreeing the number of winning bowls. All got a bit much in the last end when he started a running commentary. As our number three's bowl ran down the green, he started talking it into curving away from the jack!

Goodness knows what will happen if I ever get pitched against him in another match. Can't put up with that behaviour again.

Might have helped if we'd thrashed them. Unfortunately not. Our group didn't play at our best. Lost our rink 10-24. Their skip played a blinder, we didn't play at our best. St Ives lost the match 1-2.
