Opening Day

At last! The long awaited day! Remember setting the countdown clock way back last September, when there was almost 200 days to go. Now, rather than 7 months of darkness, there's 5 months of blue skies, sunshine, fun and competition.

Perfect day. Lots of eager members all gagging to start. Played a triples competition. And a spider... guess who won the bottle of whisky with the closest bowl! Sandwiches, cakes and a cup of tea rounded off a great start to outdoor bowls.

Happy with my bowls this early in the season. The odd erratic line or length, but most bowls were on target. Just need lots of practice. And to focus better.

Stuck my name down for everything going... 7 club competitions, friendlies and the over 60s and men's 4's league teams. Next big date is a week on Thursday and the trials for the men's 4s. What are the chances of me making the A team for the first time?

  1. Who takes care of new bowlers at St. Ives? that is my volunteer activity at James Gardens LBC. That way it is done before the tournaments get rolling.

    1. One of the non-playing organisers gather the few inexperienced potential members together to have a game. If they're already experienced they join in with the members.
