Wobbly build up

Desperate to get some bowls practise in before the big battle of the brothers tomorrow, agreed to a match to 21 against Andrew. Bit of a gamble. Yes, I might put him under pressure by winning or coming close.  But what about the psychological advantage he'd gain if he won? The photo tells all. And no, a zero hasn't dropped off my score ~:0(

Expected I'd struggle at the start. Too many short bowls. Unfortunately things didn't improve. Neither did I adjust. Throughout Andrew rolled the jack to his favoured length. On the one occasion he moved the mat up for a short end, I won by one bowl. My first chance to roll the jack! Intending to have another short end, what did I do? Rolled to my opponents length and lost the remaining ends. Why didn't I move the mat right up the rink to ensure a short end?

A reluctance to change when things aren't going well also showed in the insistence to bowl from my forehand. Having lost 21-2 and rolling the bowls back for a final end, was much more accurate on my backhand.

In the evening was the subject of some leg pulling from brother Robert. I beat him in our April match, but he now smells blood and fancies his chances against me. At least I've got that bad game out of the way. Must learn from today's match otherwise I'll come last tomorrow. Here's today's scorecard...
