Reserved!

Popped down the bowls club this evening for the weekly cut of grass borders. The B team selection for next Thursday's league match away at Eaton Socon was up. I'm dropped to a reserve!

Consoled myself with the fact another two of yesterday's winning team were also demoted to reserves. Probably just part of the rotation to give everyone a game. 

Does that sound convincing? Didn't to my wife, who almost did herself an injury trying to suppress the laughter when I ran through the logic of my demotion.

On the plus side, managed to get a solo practise in half way through the grass cutting. Forgotten there was a county committee meeting on, so mowed the grass furthest away from the clubhouse.  Left that in front until the meeting had finished.

Although the solo session was somewhat rushed, it turned out to be one of my best ever. Ends with two or more bowls within one metre was 44% and 40% of all bowls within one metre, amongst my best ever scores. Added to that I got one of my lowest count of short bowls at 24%. Still plenty of room for improvement though, since that's far too high at one bowl in every four played short.
