Good news! Ambling into the club this evening after a snooker session at The Legion with David to pay my bar bill of £3, noticed I'm down as a reserve for the men's B team match against Eynesbury Bowling Club on Thursday. And looking at the availability of the selected players I might well get a game!
Bad news! I've got an archaeology meeting that evening, which I'd happily miss, but there are also other evening commitments this week which means Linda would probably forget what I looked like. And we're probably going on holiday to Hunstanton next week so I've had to list that as an unavailable date too.
Drat! Just as my first chance to play for the team comes up, I'm unavailable. Will have to drop a few commitments!
In idle conversation with the A team captain and a couple of other team players, one of them asked how my brother Andrew was doing. We somehow got on to setting up a bowls match for September 2014, St Ives v Scone. They seemed enthusiastic, with it possibly being an annual event, St Ives travelling to Scone next year. Called Andrew and he said he'd mention it to one of his committee members. Now that would be fun, billed as Scotland v England.
