Batch bowling

Following our 7-0 win in last week's Men's Fours league match, we've narrowed the gap with the club above us, Chatteris. Now got a generous safety margin between ourselves and the relegation zone.

Tonight's opponents are bottom club, Brampton B. Can we get all seven points? Playing skip. Been raining all day up to late afternoon, so the green is going to be heavy.

Off to a good start, first two ends to us. The next four go their way and we're 2-5 behind. The opposition are favouring shortish ends. End eight, ask my lead to play the jack long to my feet. Doesn't quite make it, but it's far enough to trouble our opponents. Good wins on the next two ends and we're 13-5 ahead.

End ten is theirs and we're back to a short jack. Another batch of wins to the opposition, but we're keeping them mostly to single bowl gains. Long jacks from end fifteen gives us another string of successes. We win 19-11.

On rink one we have another comfortable win. Rink three is running slower and we're three behind. Pick up two on the penultimate end. Only one behind. To cheers from our spectators, we pick up another three on the last end to win. All seven points to us!

Best performance on a Thursday evening match. Three bowls slightly wide, one slightly narrow. Length just about right. Very happy!
